Pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB), steel buildings, and prefabricated metal structures are often the preferred building type for industrial and aviation applications. Clear span gives the option of over 400' and eave heights well over 100'. These structures perform exceedingly well in high seismic zones and can be designed with superior insulation systems, giving them the ability to fit a huge diversity of uses. FB&E can design, customize and erect these shells to deliver the desired operating space.

General ContractingThe greatest strength of FB&E is in Construction Management. This means that we oversee all aspects of the project from conceptualizing Owner's vision through final delivery. Much effort is spent before building commences such as estimation, constructability analysis, scheduling, lender support, and permit processing. We proactively manage safety, the construction site, and any Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) in effect.
For the entire project duration we communicate continuously and transparently with all involved parties, especially owner and architects, to manage risk and to correct issues at conceptual or design phases rather than after they have materialized in the building. We attend to every last detail, including helping with disbursements of progress payments, lien release, insurance certification, and project commissioning.
Facility Builders is expert in all delivery methods. We assume the role of General Contractor for projects that implement the traditional approach known as Design-Bid-Build. In this delivery method both preliminary and detailed architectural drawings are completed (by someone else) prior to submitting construction out for bids. We become involved if and when our bid is accepted. This limits our opportunity for providing pre-construction services, but risks of any change orders are borne by the Owner.
An alternative delivery method is called Design-Build, and in this case FB&E assumes the role of Design Builder. Here, we are responsible for both the design and the construction, working in close collaboration with an architectural team that we select. The cost is established after preliminary drawings are done but before detailed drawings, and then risks of change orders are borne by us. This approach affords a comprehensive solution yet puts the project on a fast track; we can perform constructability analysis and choose materials early on for efficiency.
Facility Builders is well equipped to provide all varieties of projects. We delivery turnkey buildings created from the ground up, but not all solutions are so straightforward. For instance, changing renters in commercially leased buildings often entails making Tenant Improvements, for which interior space is altered while keeping the shell the same. Sometimes we are hired to expand or modify facilities while they are occupied. Still other project types are public works and structures for providing alternative energy solutions such as compressed natural gas and electric vehicle charging stations.
Moreover, FB&E has what it takes to provide buildings with special characteristics, from office renovations to warehouses to recreation facilities. We can fulfill the requirements for large clear spans in aviation or aerospace hangars and crane loads or equipment foundations for industrial applications. One of our specialties is supplying and/or erecting pre-engineered Metal Buildings, sometimes as general contractor and other times as subcontractor.
